Chad Finley Racing Post-Race Report (Winchester)

The Chad Finley Racing Team with driver, Chad Finley made the trip to the famed high-banks of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana for the second race of the season in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts and it was time to get down to business after the first race of the year in the series two weekends previous.

After timing in 11th in the first Practice Session, he moved up to third on the charts in the final Practice. Qualifying was next and Chad timed in 12th out of 28 cars so he would start the 100-lapper on the outside of the sixth row. Right from the start, Chad started picking his way through the field and by lap 35 was up to sixth and moving fast as he got up to fourth by the halfway point.

Then on lap 64 while battling for third, the car he was passing made contact with him and sent us spinning. We came down pit road for body repairs and rejoined the field. On the restart a big crash in front of us happened and as he stopped to avoid it, the last car on the track would collect him and ended his day.

“This is just unbelievable to find ourselves wrecked again. I am just frustrated with it. We had an awesome car and we really had a good chance to win today.” Finley responded after the race. “The car was really fast on long runs and we were coming. I just hate it for everyone involved here at CFR. It is just sad the way our year has started. Our luck has got to turn around it just has too.” He added.

“I guess Mike (Staszak from XLT Engineering, one of the primary sponsors within CFR) said it best. You have your health and family the rest is just nuts and bolts to repair. There are a lot of people worse off than us in this world so take it and be grateful. So that’s what we will do….” Finley ended.
